Yoga Nidra is a restorative guided meditation, often called ‘yogic sleep’. It utilizes the biological process of sleep, while you are awake and alert, using a series of breath, body and awareness techniques for deeper relaxation of the body and mind. Many people find it to be the easiest type of meditation because anyone can do it and you cannot do it wrong. As you lie down comfortably on your yoga mat in Savasana, typically with a blanket for warmth and eye pillow, all you have to do is follow the voice that is guiding you. And even if you do dose off, your body still reaps the benefits. It is said that 45-minutes of ‘yogic sleep’ feels like 3-hours of regular sleep..
