Led by: YJ Teaching Faculty

"Restorative Yoga for Ancestor Healing" is a therapeutic meditative yoga class grounded in the knowledge that energetic and physical releases have the potential to dissolve remembered and unremembered traumas.

Restorative Yoga, a practice of long gentle holds, helps heal and release memories of aggressions and micro-aggressions stored in the body. This practice can be especially valuable when trauma has occurred ancestrally, pre-verbally, and/or cannot be recalled chronologically.

Please bring something to journal with, 2-4 bed pillows or a bolster and blocks, a blanket, and a yoga mat (if you have one). Come in comfortable clothing. Try not to eat 90 minutes before Class.

Growing Light with Restorative Yoga for Ancestor Healing

One Yoga Jubilee’s Core Values is Embodiment.  We acknowledge that trauma lives in our bodies - passed through generations - and requires embodied practices to fully heal. Our Ancestral Healing practices create a space for practitioners to offer to and receive healing from the Ancestors.

JUNETEENTH

Monday, June 19th, 2023

Led by: Riley Skye

Join Riley Skye in this special Ancestral Healing class that will allow us to connect with and heal the traumas of our enslaved and enslaving Ancestors. In this restorative yoga class class we will use the tools of gentle asana and meditation to honor their memories, their sorrow, joys and the gifts they have given us, their descendents.

*What is a “Pay it Forward” / “Pay What You Can” based class?

These terms simply mean that you are invited to come, regardless of your ability to pay or how much you can pay. We ask that you do donate if and when you can, about the same amount you might pay for a class at a studio in your local area. No amount is too little, and if you can pay more, you will be helping those who cannot pay have access. “Pay it forward” is another way to reciprocate, meaning that when you have time, skill, or funds that will help another human or an organization doing work you support, you can donate to them when you have that to offer.

Any amount and any way is appreciated. It keeps the “lights on” at YJ and allows us to continue to offer classes in this way.
